Fancy becoming involved in a group dedicated to supporting parents in Falkirk and West Lothian? The volunteers on the NCT committee run various fundraising events and groups which benefit the local parents and the charity at large and we always need new volunteers to bring fresh ideas. We currently have the following vacancies on our committee. If you're interested in joining our team and would like to find out more, read the role descriptions below and contact us.

‘I have not got much time available’:
Postnatal Hosts: We would like to set up an open house roster for social meets and coffees. We would like to spread this over the whole branch area. We would anticipate this to be a couple of hours a month at the most in your own home. Return to top of page
General Volunteer: It would be great to have a list of people that would like to very occasionally help out. Whilst the committee is very happy to put in the time in organising events, mostly we need many more people ‘on the day’. If you would like to be contacted regarding on off events, please let us know. It would be on a goodwill basis, if you were not available, we would just call the next person on the list. ‘I have a bit more
time available’ (but will still have plenty of non-NCT free time):
Committee members
Librarian:
We are really proud of our new branch library. It has recently been upgraded
to include a huge range of new titles on pregnancy, birth, health and parenting.
In the past year around 30 borrowers have used the library, borrowing 75+
titles. You would store the library – 4 plastic wheeled storage boxes
of books, videos & DVDs (a dry corner of a garage or shed will do!),
act as contact point for loans/returns/browsing of library resource and
take the library to various NCT groups for borrowers to browse/borrow/return
items on a rotating basis. This is as big or small as you want to make it,
but we really need somebody to keep it going.

Postnatal Coordinator: You would maintain the local experience register and be a focal point for new mums and dads to contact the NCT. We would like to set up a coffee network locally and have more social events for people new to the area to meet up. We have good links with the local NHS and continuing these would be a bonus. NCT Sales Agent: I am sure you have seen the NCT Sales shopping catalogue. If we sell through the branch we get 10% of sales income to use at branch level. We currently don’t have anyone doing this position.Return to top of page
Bumps and Babies Coordinator: You make sure that the rooms are booked and that there are hosts for each session. Also keep the NCT information available up to date and relevant. Return to top of page
Chair: Lastly, Lucy would also like to do something different! Lucy does lots locally but the actual chair’s tasks are a small part of what she does. The Chair is the central contact for UK Office and receives emails from local NHS contacts about meetings etc they would like NCT input to. The Chair also oversees the branch to check things are being (basically!) done in accordance with UK Office guidelines and fill out the odd form they ask for. It is an easy job for this branch as we have a committed team of volunteers. Return to top of page
‘I
would like to make a long term commitment to the NCT’
Breastfeeding
Counsellors:
The branch is looking for women to train as Breastfeeding Counsellors. The
course is accredited by the University of Bedfordshire and is to diploma
standard. This involves training (paid for by the NCT) for a period then
giving up some of your time to counsel breastfeeding women. It is a very
rewarding position for the right person. Return

Postnatal leaders:
The branch is looking for women to train as postnatal leaders. The course
is accredited by the University of Bedfordshire and is to diploma standard.
It would be 75% funded by the NCT and is a paid position on qualifying.
