Last
year a new bistro opened up on the outskirts of Linlithgow
and for those of you who have not yet been it is very child
friendly. Not in the Brewster’s, soft play kind
of way, but in the more subtle things that make a huge difference
kind of way. It will be of no surprise to learn
that the owners are parents of young children themselves.
So from the child size cutlery and animal printed glasses,
to the toddler seats and nappy sacks in the loos, they seem
to have thought of most things. There is even a playroom.
They
have a full menu and children’s menu, but if it is morning
or afternoon coffee you are after there is usually a range
of cakes to tempt you. The last time I was there it
was malteser cake, yum, yum! The play area for the children
is within the bistro so you can quite happily sit at your
table and enjoy your coffee and cake while the children have
fun.
The
play room is generally equipped with a range of toys and books.
They even have a telly on, but it is up on the wall and to
be honest in all the times I have been there my kids, who
are 4 and 1, are more intent on exploring all the toys that
are there rather than watching CBeebies!
If
the weather is fine you could also sit outside as there are
a few cars and tractors for the kids to play on. There
is plenty of space for them to drive around and the area is
completely enclosed with a gate so it is safe for them to
play, with no fear of them running off.
So
if you are looking for somewhere to go for lunch or even just
a coffee, and cake of course, that has something for the kids,
then this is a great place to while away a couple of hours.
You get the chance to chat, well at least a bit, while the
kids play. What more could you ask for?
