Have
you tried the new soft play in South Queensferry? We have
been several times now and always had a good time. The play
frame is not as large as some but our 5 year old still seems
to get plenty of fun out of it. There are three areas: babies,
under 5’s and over 5’s. The baby area is enclosed
and has toys suitable for little ones who are not toddling.
The other two sections are linked and have a good variety
of the usual challenges within a soft play including slides,
a flying fox type arrangement and an excellent ‘trampoline’
that on closer inspection proved to be a floor of gym balls
covered with a tarpaulin! This always proves very popular.
In common
with all these places, they do not allow you to take your
own food or drinks in, but the café area is very reasonably
priced and provides good healthy snacks. They even have a
proper fresh orange machine where you see the oranges going
in and the juice coming out! Their children’s lunch
box in very good value and promotes healthy eating.
The toilets
were nicely presented and clean with a separate nursing room,
if required. It is made clear, however, that breastfeeding
is encouraged wherever you feel comfortable.
The hourly
rate is £2.50 for children over 2 years and £1
for babies up to 2 years. To be honest I was a bit aggrieved
at having to pay for my babe in arms but the baby play area
did mean that he got something out of it. Now that he is 9
months he is really starting to enjoy having the space to
roll around safely. I liked the fact that you could pay for
1 hour as we often find it a bit difficult to keep the pace
up for the 2 hours provided by other places in the locality
and end up buying something fairly substantial to eat to break
things up a bit!
If you
check the website you’ll find a range of other activities
and services including a nail technician who comes round your
table and gets your nails ready for the weekend!
All in
all, we found it a good place to go with nice facilities and
good, healthy, reasonably priced food. A great place to go
on wet Sunday afternoons.
